Al-Nassr is prepared to extend him a 3 ½ year deal with annual compensation of more than £100 million.

Annual compensation

According to sources who spoke to ESPN, Al-Nassr has said they are willing to pay Ronaldo the equivalent of £16 million in compensation for the income he would have received had he completed the remaining six months of his Man United contract.

While he is in Qatar, Ronaldo, 37, has asked that his representation not participate in discussions about his future in club football, but sources have told ESPN that discussions about a transfer to Al-Nassr have already taken place.

What sources say

After consenting to a "mutual" termination of his contract following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan inside which he attacked the team and management Erik ten Hag, the Portugal captain left Old Trafford before receiving any compensation.

Termination of contract

Portugal's final Group H match is on Friday against South Korea. They have also already advanced to the knockout phase and will play one of Brazil, Cameroon, Switzerland, or Serbia for the round of 16 the following week.
