Today, the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota released a draught of the Coronavirus Vaccines Research &

Development (R&D) Roadmap (CVR), outlining methods for creating vaccines that are effective against both new COVID-19

variants and coronaviruses that have not yet emerged in humans.

The public is welcome to evaluate and offer feedback on the draught roadmap.

The roadmap serves as a transition between the pandemic's crisis stage and preparation for a time when coronaviruses,

like SARS-CoV-2, the virus that caused COVID-19, continue to cause significant morbidity and mortality throughout the world.

It is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation.

The authors of the roadmap support broadly protective coronavirus vaccines that would provide protection

against a variety of viruses in order to counter the present and potential risks posed by this family of viruses.
