Today, the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota released a draught of the
Coronavirus Vaccines Research &
Development (R&D) Roadmap (CVR), outlining methods for creating vaccines that are effective against both new
variants and coronaviruses
that have not yet emerged in humans.
The public is welcome to evaluate and offer feedback on the draught roadmap.
The roadmap serves as a transition between the pandemic's crisis stage and preparation for a time when
like SARS-CoV-2, the virus that caused
continue to cause significant morbidity and mortality throughout the world.
It is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation.
The authors of the roadmap support broadly protective coronavirus vaccines that would provide protection
against a variety of viruses in order to counter the present and potential risks posed by this family of viruses.
