That the stadium needed to be torn down was no surprise to anyone; it has essentially been vacant the past four years. In 2017, after a quasi-effort to get the city to pay for a new stadium, the Chargers left San Diego, their home for the previous 56 years. Apparently, there was more money to be made in Los Angeles.
