After six years working with Kelly Rippa as co-host of the ABC morning show Live with Kelly and Ryan, Ryan Seacrest is leaving his position.

On Thursday’s programme, Seacrest said, “I made the decision to make this my last season as co-host with Kell here on Live with Kelly and Ryan,… which is heartbreaking,” adding that he’d been considering the decision “for a long time.”

The show will become Live with Kelly and Mark and replace Seacrest with Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos, who already fills in on the show.

In a another Instagram post, Ryan made fun of his “work wife” and revealed that he had repeatedly extended his contract because he was having so much fun.  doing work for Ripa. “I originally agreed to host Live in 2017 for a period of three years, but I stayed longer since I enjoyed the work and working with Kelly so much,” he wrote. “Last year, I decided to continue on for one more final season.” Ripa referred to Seacrest as a jewel and one of her greatest friends on television.


The biggest benefit of the whole experience, according to Ripa, has been your transformation from a friend to a family member. Ryan said he was becoming emotional but that he had told Ripa he wouldn’t cry during the mutual gush-fest.


The public will still have several possibilities to satisfy their Seacrest need despite his impending departure. He will continue to appear on the programme until the spring, after which he will become a guest host while filming the 21st season of American Idol in Los Angeles. He’ll continue to host both his own radio programme and the New Year’s Eve broadcast on ABC.

“Kelly, I pledge to eternally share my culinary images, chicken eggs, and olive oil with you,” Seacrest tweeted. He added that he was looking forward to returning as a guest host in the future. Thank you for remodelling my dressing area, and congratulations to my brother Mark!
