Warhammer to be made into movie and TV show, starring Superman actor Henry Cavill (1)
The fictional setting of the game has been developed through a large body of novels, published by Black Library (Games Workshop’s publishing division). Warhammer 40,000 took its name from Warhammer Fantasy Battle, which is a medieval fantasy wargame also produced by Games Workshop.

For some grizzled old veterans, Relic’s Dawn of War remains the best Warhammer 40,000 video game ever made. This traditional real-time strategy game is as dark and gothic as you’d want, with heavy-duty base building and large scale battles that revolve around capturing strategic locations.

The Space Marines are almost every Warhammer 40k player’s first army for two reasons: they’re so ubiquitous (there are far more Space Marine models–and rules–for Space Marines than there are for any other army on this list), and they’re generally pretty easy to play.
In general, you don’t need to understand the Warhammer storyline to play and enjoy the game, but the game mechanics themselves can be complicated to someone new, as I experienced during my hands-on with the upcoming game.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

If you start at the beginning, with 2004’s Dawn of War, you’ll get some dated graphics, but a great introduction to the world of 40k. The Space Marines, the forces of Chaos, the Eldar, the Imperial Guard, and other factions all feature in this game.
